Meeting Update

Due to our berry and pie pickup on 8/10/17, there will be no Kiwanis meeting on Thursday.

Also, due to the eclipse week, we will not be meeting on August 17 as our streets will begin to load up.

We expect to meet on August 24 as usual in hopes that our eclipse traffic has greatly diminished.

We usually  meet on the first and second Thursdays of the month at NOON at Pappy’s Pizza, 20265 Meyer Dr., Bend, Oregon, next to Fred Meyer.

Guests should email to be sure there is a meeting on any given week.  If a meeting falls on or near a major holiday, there will likely be no meeting.

Members should watch their email for meeting invitations & social events. We welcome visitors.

Pies & Berries and Jams

UPDATE:  Some of our product was not brought on delivery day by our vendor. We are sorry for the inconvenience.  The vendor is returning August 10, 2017 and we expect to be able to fill the orders that were missing items.  Come to the pick up location in the parking lot across from the Pavillion on Simpson between 1:30 and 2pm to pick up your orders.

We thank you for your support.

Prior to update this announcement:

It’s the Kiwanis Club of Bend’s Annual Fundraiser! The proceeds go right back to our local community to projects and programs for our local children.

Stock up now on delicious frozen berries and keep them for your smoothies in Winter when you can’t get fresh berries. And the pies, oh yum!  These are great pies.  Enjoy them all summer with the addition of oh so wonderful ice cream.

The Veteran by Ted Lyster

A tribute to Veterans written by Bend Kiwanian and well known Cowboy Poet, Ted Lyster:

“…They raised their hand

        And said “I swear…”

Regardless of the risk they bear..

…Each can add “Veteran to their name!!”

2012-2013 Bend Kiwanis 89th Year of Service to the Bend Community

The Bend Kiwanis Club has a long and rich history of serving the Bend Community. At a May 1924 gathering at the former Pilot Butte Inn, the first meeting of the Bend Kiwanis Club was held. Bend Kiwanis Club was the first service club in our community. Our Club’s motto is “Making a Difference”, and has been embraced by our members from our inception.

Some of these projects from the beginning of Bend Kiwanis Club have continued to present day, such as, the support of 4H and FFA programs and the purchasing of land for parks, park development and providing play structures in parks. Other long standing projects have been support of the Boy and Girl Scout programs, college scholarships and providing resources, manpower and equipment to non-profit organizations.

This year (2012-2013) the Bend Kiwanis Club budgeted for  scholarship money available to 4H and FFA, Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp, and High School Scholarships.

The Bend Kiwanis Club members have donated services to:

Red Cross – Bend Christmas Parade – Neighborhood Impact

July 4th Pet Parade and Games In The Park – United Way Days of Caring

 Central Oregon’s Got Talent

ODOT Road Clean-up – Ronald McDonald House

SMART – Volunteers in Medicine -Grandma’s House –  Scouting Programs
And many, many more…

If you are interested in getting involved please contact us and submit your contact information. Thank you we look forward to reaching out to new members and continuing to serve the community.
